Hanging with the Big Boys

New Table and Chairs?

Emilee loves playing with her cousin, Abi's, little table and chair set. She doesn't technically have her own so I guess she decided to improvise.
She is using "Jungle Beat" drums for the gamecube as a chair, the box that holds our games and controllers as a table, and Wii Fit extensions (for the Wii Fit board) as plates. Pretty creative! I guess it's pretty obvious she has learned how to open the fridge. Uh-oh.

Jordan's Field Trip

Emilee and I joined Jordan on a field trip to Albertson's. I was actually very impressed with the presentation they had for the kids. They took us to different sections of the store, told the kids which food group the different foods fell into, had a chart about the food groups and had the kids repeat how many of each food group they should eat each day. They even gave them samples of healthy foods. It was pretty cool and the kids were very involved.

An Old Christmas Dress

Emilee loves her new dress from Ashlee's box. We even got her to wear the hat for a few minutes so we could get some pictures. She wouldn't wear it for long, though.

Jaxon Reading

One Saturday morning I went back to my room to see if Jordan was awake so I could make my bed and this is what I found.

Jordan's Birthday

So I am way behind and need to catch up on some things that happened in November. Jordan had his 5th birthday party and it was so much fun. It was the first time he had friends for a party and he loved it. He went with me to the party store and he chose to have a football party. (I think it's because he likes his brother, Jaxon, so much and Jaxon loves football.) He invited all boys and two pretty special girls. He insisted on having his cousin, Kayley, even though it was a boy party and of course Moriah was invited to come with Kayley, too. It was a great party and we all had lots of fun.

A Tribute to Elder Wirthlin

My heart was full of both sadness and joy this morning as I learned of Elder Wirthlin's passing. Joy for him as he is now able to be with his sweet wife again and with his Lord and Savior whom he has served so well. Sadness for all of us, as I am sure we will all miss his inspired messages. Over the last couple of years, Elder Wirthlin has become one of my favorite speakers in General Conference. He has made me laugh, cry, reflect, and ponder. His messages have been so full of love, compassion, and kindness. I am so grateful for those messages and the things I have learned from them. I will continually strive to apply his messages in my life and hopefully, someday, I will be successful. I truly loved Elder Wirthlin and he will be missed.

Success at Reflections

Our kids participated in the school Reflections program this year. Ashlee entered Literature, Photography, Visual Arts, and 3-D Art. She received a ribbon for Outstanding Achievement in the 3-D category.

Derek entered in Music, 3-D Art, Visual Arts, & Photography. He received 3 trophies for winning in Music, 3-D, and Visual Arts and a ribbon for Outstanding Achievement in Photography.
Jaxon entered Literature, Photography, and Visual Arts. He won trophies for Literature and Photography. He won a ribbon for Outstanding Achievement in Visual Arts. The picture of the sunset is the one he took down at the lake. I wasn't surprised that he won, it is a great picture.

Ride the...Turkey?

I heard Emilee sneak out the front door one day and went out to see what she was doing. I caught her riding our pumpkin turkey. She looked so cute and she was having so much fun, I had to take a picture.

Do We Have Any Bulbs?

I was putting together my Christmas tree today and Jordan was patiently watching me. He was handing me branches while I put them on and arranged them. He asked, "Do we have any bulbs?" I said, "Yes, we have lots of bulbs." He replied, "Not flower bulbs, Mom, Christmas tree bulbs." I just had to laugh. How many little boys even know what flower bulbs are? I thought it was cute.

Jaxon's Wrestling

It's been nice knowing you buddy.
You're not getting out of here that easy.
Here are a few of Jaxon's moves.

This guy kept running Jaxon all over. He was a little tougher than the first guy.

This guy really should just stay down. Jaxon just kept throwing him down and pinning him. Felt bad for the poor kid. He was crying by the end of the match.

We told Jaxon not to let him go next time. They get an escape point. This guy is a real jumper.

Jaxon's first pin of the night.

The Pheasant Hunt

Pheasant Hunters! The bald guy is me in case you couldn't tell.
We didn't see but one bird that got away so we went after a different bird. The best bird of all. The clay pigeon. No clean up, no mess. Lots of birds.
Jace practiced on the ground first.

Just one shoot for Adam.

Braydon practices on the ground.

Adam thinks he's cool, but it looks like he missed.

Brett takes care of any left over pigeons. Good shooting Brett!

Two Boys and a Man (who is that man?)

If someone mentioned something about Derek being a Doctor, he would say, "No, I'm a pediatrician," and/or "I'm me in the future." He was quite funny.
Adam didn't even know what he was, he was just having fun with a black spray can.
Yes, this one was a shocker. Troy locked himself in the bathroom, shaved his head, and sprayed his facial hair black. Who is he?

The Big Day, It's Finally Halloween

Jordan sure makes a cute little horsey! It was kind of fun having a BYU football player and two Utah cheerleaders. They all looked great! It doesn't matter which team you cheer for, you have to admit those cheerleaders are awfully cute!

Finishing the Countdown

2 Days 'til Halloween. We had to make sure our costumes were ready. Ashlee's and Emilee's both needed some "taking in" and Jaxon's helmet was perfected with duct tape.

3 Days 'til Halloween. We read more Halloween stories. It was extra special this time because it was with Daddy!

Two More Fun Days!

6 days 'til Halloween. We did one of our favorite Halloween traditions and carved our pumpkins. We had lots of fun. If you look closely at Ashlee's hair, you'll see that it is messy because it is full of pumpkin guts. Yes, her big brother, Derek, had fun rubbing it in her hair. Of course she's a good sport and just had fun with it. Emilee's face has pumpkin all over it, but we can't blame Adam this time. It was all her own doing. I'll have to find a picture from last year to post and show what Adam did to her last year. It's great!

5 days 'til Halloween. We had some Finger Lickin' Fun! That's right, we visited Dad at his store and left with some chicken. We took it to a wonderful park up Provo Canyon and had some lunch.

As you can see we had lots of fun along the Provo River Trail after lunch. We climbed on trees and rocks and played in the river. It was a wonderful day spent together.
