My heart was full of both sadness and joy this morning as I learned of Elder Wirthlin's passing. Joy for him as he is now able to be with his sweet wife again and with his Lord and Savior whom he has served so well. Sadness for all of us, as I am sure we will all miss his inspired messages. Over the last couple of years, Elder Wirthlin has become one of my favorite speakers in General Conference. He has made me laugh, cry, reflect, and ponder. His messages have been so full of love, compassion, and kindness. I am so grateful for those messages and the things I have learned from them. I will continually strive to apply his messages in my life and hopefully, someday, I will be successful. I truly loved Elder Wirthlin and he will be missed.

What a great tribute. I'm so glad you posted this. The reflection back over the years of Elder Wirthlin's talks to me have been very inspiring. I too feel both sadness and joy in his passing. Thank you for sharing this post.
so do I. He had such a great talk this last few weeks that has helped me so much. Come what may and love it. Tremendous guy, and I have been honored to be touched by something so special he wrote!
The last two times I spoke in sacrament meeting, I was asked to base my talk on a message by Elder Wirthlin. "Concern for the One" from April 2008 really hit home with me, being the mom of special needs kids. What a great man!
Check out my blog to catch up with us! http://talesfromtangerine.blogspot.com/
What a sweet tribute. It's amazing how one person can effect so many other lives.
I also think that he was a amazing man. I will miss his talks they always seem to hit home. It is neat to think of all the talks throughout his life that he has given..
You need to let Celeste know where you found your background. She wants a more holiday festive one then just the snowflakes and snowman.
Ditto! We love your background as well.
I saw your comment on Joe's blog so I commented letting him know that Shabby Princess wants credit. I also told him he can create it in any photo program, but scrapbooking programs are probably the easiest. The countdown is extremely easy to get. You just need to google for a widget, choose the one you want, copy the code, and paste it in an html/javascript (like your background). You may have to adjust the size of the widget to make it fit properly.
